Bonsai senior residence
Estate management in the park of Domaine Jaegerthal
Your bonsai in the best hands …
Even after my active time at the Bonsai Center and Museum in Heidelberg, I maintained very personal contact with my “old bonsai customers”. Many of these bonsai are in my care from time to time, be it for a revision, redesign or for long-term care.
As in real life, a generational change is taking place among my bonsai customers. Many of these customers, as they grow older, are no longer able to transport, repot or care for their heavy bonsai in the way that a valuable bonsai needs. In addition, interests and hobbies change in line with age – the desire to travel more in the free time that is now available is becoming more important. So the question “what to do with the bonsai collection” arises more and more frequently. The responsibility is too great for most children, grandchildren and friends or their interests are completely different, on the bonsai market you don’t even get close to its value and then there is the question of into whose hands the beloved trees will end up. Bonsai that have often been in the possession of a collector for more than 5 decades – so it is only too understandable that one does not want to give these treasures into inexperienced hands.
This situation or circumstance has led to more and more solitary and precious bonsai being offered to me for permanent care or being left to the park of Domaine Jaegerthal as an estate. Here in the park of Domaine Jaegerthal there is enough space for the very large and the very small trees, here they are professionally cared for and the owners always have the opportunity to visit their loved ones. A stay in our guest house, the Maison d’ Ecole, which is located on the grounds of the Domaine Jaegerthal, makes it possible to combine a stay at the Bonsai Senioren-Residenz with an extended stay, short holiday, excursion and a delicious meal in the beautiful North Alsace.
I now offer this possibility not only to my loyal “old customers” but to all bonsai friends who do not really want to part with their valuable collection. Thus, the old, already existing, large solitary trees in the park form a beautiful and harmonious interplay.
If you are interested in long-term care for your bonsai, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Care | Costs for a stay in the Bonsai Senior Residence
this is what caring for your bonsai can look like:
Long-term care:
If you leave your bonsai permanently in the care of the Bonsai Seniors’ Residence or the park of the Jaegerthal Estate, with the option of retrieving the bonsai at any time, you can take over a sponsorship for your trees. With one monthly fee, the complete professional maintenance of your bonsai collection is guaranteed. The fee for such a sponsorship ultimately depends on your wishes for the maintenance and care, the size and value (insurance cover) of the respective bonsai.
Permanent care:
However, if you decide to leave your collection or even just individual bonsai permanently to the Bonsai Seniors’ Residence in the park of the Domaine Jaegerthal, the maintenance fee is waived entirely – the collection becomes the property of the Bonsai Seniors’ Residence.A donation or voluntary support our Association Parc du Domaine Jaegerthal | P-DJ, for the financing of a perfect maintenance of the park and all bonsai, is of course always welcome. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) Membership of the Association is of course also welcome and contributes to being part of this institution – sharing responsibility without obligation and yet doing something good for the living arts and our nature.
Surely you can understand that it is not possible for us to give every bonsai a place in the Bonsai Senior Residence, insofar the selection is to be clarified with me or my team – in advance. Furthermore, the condition and health of the respective bonsai must be assessed and evaluated beforehand.
If you are interested, please contact me or send me photos of your bonsai solitaires in advance.
